Dubai Clock Tower



Dubai clock tower stands in the middle of the roundabout of the same name on Airport Road roughly midway between the downtown area of Bur Dubai and the International Airport. Its sweeping concrete arms support a cube-shaped four-faced clock currently showing 5.10. The structure was refurbished around 2000 and looks almost brand new.

Shaikh Mohammad mourns death of Umm Al Quwain ruler



Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, mourns the death of Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, Shaikh Rashid Bin Ahmad Al Mualla, who died yesterday, Friday in London. A week long state of mourning has been declared in Dubai, during which flags shall fly at half mast. All federal and government departments and institutions shall remain closed for three days beginning on Friday. All celebrations and activities scheduled for Saturday to mark the third anniversary of the accession of Shaikh Mohammad as ruler of Dubai have been cancelled.
