ARNEL PINEDA-Faithfully-Open Arms

A Filipino who became the lead singer for Journey last February 2008. He is another filipino with extra-ordinary talent.

In 2006, encouraged by legendary Filipino talent manager and TV director, Bert de Leon, Pineda moved back to the Philippines with Monet Cajipe, the guitarist who has been in all Pineda's bands during the last 24 years. They formed the The Zoo. They signed on with de Leon's company, Sundance Entertainment. The Zoo Band performed several nights a week at clubs in Manila and Olongapo during 2006 and 2007. Shows regularly spanned 3-5 hours. The Zoo’s first album "Zoology" was released by MCA Universal in September 2007 featuring 13 original tracks, several of which were penned by Pineda.

Journey
Videos of The Zoo performing cover songs by Journey, Survivor, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Air Supply, The Eagles, Kenny Loggins and other popular acts from the 70s, 80s and 90s, began appearing on YouTube.com in February 2007 and now number more than 200 in total. In August 2007, Neal Schon of Journey contacted Noel Gomez, a longtime fan and friend of Pineda who uploaded many of these videos, and then asked for Pineda's contact information. Schon then sent an e-mail to Pineda inviting the latter to audition for Journey. Pineda initially dismissed the e-mail as a hoax, but after persistent persuasions by Gomez he finally replied to Schon's e-mail. Ten minutes later Pineda received a phone call from Schon. Later in that month Pineda, along with his manager Bert de Leon, flew to Marin County in San Francisco to audition.

Changing Careers : An option for all Workers

More and more Americans and people around the world are losing their jobs. And American job titles and responsibilities are constantly morphing to suit the economic and cultural transitions of our madcap age. Companies are narrowing the field to specialist and professionals.

Today's workers are often forced by marketplace realities to undergo at least one rapid job change over their adult lives. Many enroll at online colleges and trade schools to garner fresh skills that fit their experience and previous training.
Some of these hot new careers you may have never heard of are "green-collar" jobs. These jobs are on the rise as the business world responds to dramatic increases in energy costs and environmental regulation. And while disposable income seems threatened by a roller-coaster economy, other new careers are springing up to suit those who have cash to spend.

Each one us has contributions for the Xmas eve that is why everybody is so busy preparing food for "Noche Buena". This will be my first time to celebrate Xmas away from home. I'm feeling homesick right now but its an experience that I will allow me to see if how other people celebrate Xmas and non-Christian.

Right now, I'm here in the office sitting down writing this blog, waiting until the work is finished. and be back home. But speaking of getting home, I've got a few emails to answer and a phone call to make before I go meet Ms Kelly, for the refund of my ticket I purchased when I went home to Manila

So, have a nice day. you just have a few hours to wait and it's Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Everybody and Happy New Year to all!

Filipinos Stranded in Kish Island, Iran: HELP?

J.V., a Filipino was hired at a Dubai construction site
(seen here comforting his daughter in a hotel in Kish, Iran)

The Philippine embassy in the Iranian capital of Teheran has submitted to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Manila an operational plan for the repatriation of over 1,000 Filipinos stranded in Iran’s Kish island. Today there are more than 3000 people waiting for their visa.

Most of them stayed there for more than a month already. Some more than 2months since August, have no money or run out of money for food.. Women are being molested or raped. Two have died already because of hunger.

Guys, is there a way we could help?

Putting out the fire

Smoking does so much harm to your health, so why not just stop?

Even the tobacco companies agree: smoking is bad for your health - very bad, in fact. That is why they put "Government Warning, Cigarette is Dangerous to your Health" in the packaging. All in all, the average non-smoker lives about 14 years longer than the average smoker. And the worldwide burden is truly staggering.

Try not to smoke within the day, and look for anyone who smoke a lot and sit beside him. I'm sure you couldn't resist the smell.

Job hunt crisis?

The global financial crisis could cost some 20 million jobs worldwide. According to International Labour Organisation (ILO), current calculations, worldwide unemployment could rise from 190 million last year to a level of 210 million by the end of 2009.

Construction, automotive, tourism, finance, services and real estate would be among the sectors to be hit hardest by the current crisis. Actually trimming down of employees are already started last November.

In US, thousand of people are already on the job hunt but they are having difficulties landing a job since employers are very strict when it comes to hiring. They want to screen carefully and looking the best candidate suitable for the job.

In Middle East, thousand of Filipinos are already terminated because of the crisis. They were given just one month to stay after that they goes back home. I have talked to some Filipinos and Expats and they said that situation right now is very hard.

But if you're going to look at the classified ads, and the internet, there are thousand of jobs advertised available but no one is getting calls for interview. - hhhmmm strange....

'Twilight' : the movie

Twilight. It's everywhere. On bookshelves. On the big screen. On bedroom walls, key chains, binders, notebooks, calendars, refrigerators... Everyone is talking about twilight.
You name it, and Edward and Bella are plastered across it.
There is no doubt it's because of the big success of the movie, an adaptation of the popular vampire-love-story book series that has grossed $150 million since its Nov. 21, 2008 debut.
And as someone who watched of said movie, I can already tell that this frenzy won't die down anytime soon, since they became favorite of all Love-story movie fanatics.

Synopsis: TWILIGHT is an action-packed, modern-day love story between a teenage girl and a vampire. Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a little bit different, never caring about fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix high school. When her mother re-marries and sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect much of anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a boy unlike any she's ever met. Edward is a vampire, but he doesn't have fangs and his family is unique in that they choose not to drink human blood. Intelligent and witty, Edward sees straight into Bella's soul. Soon, they are swept up in a passionate, thrilling and unorthodox romance. To Edward, Bella is what he has waited 90 years for – a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. But what will Edward & Bella do when a clan of new vampires – James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi) and Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre) – come to town and threaten to disrupt their way of life?

As long as there are people on the planet, there will be garbage."

I remembered watching WALL-E ( Waste Allocation Load Lifter ), left all alone compacting trash.

2008 Holiday Buying Guide

Okay, I tried this the other day, but somehow couldn’t embed it neatly. So instead, I’ve rebuilt the entire guide off-site at Amazon directly.

If you have some social media types on your holiday list, or if you’re looking for a way to spend some of those gift cards that people buy because they have no idea what you really like, and really don’t know you well enough to buy you anything personal, get back at them, by buying your own stuff from this store I set up.

How to Avoid Interview Stress

bayt.com

Do you experience severe interview stress? This article is for you.
The interviewer is buttoned-up, formal and not smiling as warmly as you would have liked. The interview chair is hard and unwelcoming, your palms and face are sweating profusely, your normal eloquence has given way to stuttering and stammering and you have begun to tremble from head to toe. If you are one of the multitude of jobseekers who begin to hyper-ventilate at the very thought of interviewing for a new position and to whom the interview is a source of unlimited stress and trepidation, the following are some basic tips to help you through your interview woes:

Imagine the interviewer is more stressed out than you are

A technique favored by many to alleviate their own stress is to remind themselves that the interviewer may be more nervous and stressed out than they are, especially if he is not a seasoned HR professional and does not normally interview new candidates. The interviewer may not feel very comfortable assuming a role normally reserved for the HR department and may be more anxious than you are as a result. In this case you can shift your focus to alleviating the stress in the room and lightening the mood realizing you are both new to this role and that both sides will win by making the interview as smooth, fluid and informative as possible.

Imagine yourself in the interviewer's shoes

It helps to remember when sitting in the interview spotlight that the interviewer himself is a busy man with deadlines, a job and a boss to report back to. By mentally envisioning the interviewer as a professional just like yourself who has taken time out of his busy routine to give you an opportunity to interview for the job, you can begin to empathize with the interviewer, relate to him and feel a sense of gratitude that you have made it as far as the interview stage. Remember, getting this far is already an accomplishment and the fact that the employer has given you such a generous block of time means they are interested in your profile, abilities and qualifications. Convince yourself that the difficult part is already over (providing you have not lied on your CV) and the interview itself is just a platform to build a rapport with the team and articulate in person what they already know from your CV.
To take this a step further, you may want to put yourself in the employer's shoes - imagine you are in full control of the interview and the aim is to deliver to the employer all the answers he needs to sell you to the rest of the team clearly and succinctly. You can even go so far as to imagine that you already have the job and are just getting to know the interviewer as a professional colleague - this technique really works to alleviate the stress of the moment and reveal your real work persona and interpersonal skills.

Know your subject matter

Your subject matter is primarily yourself and your professional achievements, interests, skills and qualifications, particularly as summarized on your CV and as they relate to this particular job. The interview is not the time to start racking your brain for the answer to "How long did you work for ABC Motors" or "When did you join DEF" - you should know your employment history and CV like the back of your hand and be able to explain or expound on any aspect of it immediately. Remember, you are the world's best expert on this subject matter and for the length of the interview you are completely in control of the subject matter, have an edge over the interviewer with this knowledge, and can deliver the relevant facts and figures with utmost confidence.

Read interview books

Reading interview books will give you that extra self-confidence you need to appear calm at the interview and anticipate some of the more common questions. By eliminating most of the 'shock' value of the interview and feeling yo u are armed with answers to most questions that can come your way you will feel much more relaxed, comfortable and in control of the interview.

Practice and prepare

Nothing beats practice and preparation for confidence building. While knowing yourself is the fundamental building block in the successful interview formula, knowing the job, the industry and the company come in a close second. Research these areas extensively so that the next time you are seated across from the interviewer you have a detailed knowledge of what it is they are looking for, how recent market events have shaped and influenced the company in specific and industry in general and what it is about your profile that is uniquely relevant to the job in question and can directly influence the bottom line. Once you can see yourself as a vital piece of the puzzle by virtue of the unique skills, attributes and value-added you bring to the specific role, you can tailor the answers to all interview questions accordingly. Practice your answers bearing in mind at all times what the employer is looking for based on your research activities, and keep repeating and fine-tuning your answers till you have perfected both the content and delivery. Ask some-one you trust to assume the role of the interviewer and aim to perfect the answers to all the common (and any anticipated uncommon) questions you are likely to come across in the interview.

Don't dwell on your mistakes

Remind yourself that everyone is fallible and that should you stumble or falter with a particularly difficult question, you can quickly recover. The secret is not to make a big issue out of a bad or outright wrong answer but to quickly take stock of what went wrong, regain composure, take remedial action if possible then refocus and move on to the next question. Keep a professional front at all times and don't let yourself get mired in any interview traps or potentially harmful comments you may inadvertently have made. It helps immensely to remember that flexibility will win the day and that should you inadvertently slip, you have the wit and intelligence to make it up with well-rehearsed, honest, sincere, exemplary answers to other interview questions.

Smile

Laughter is the closest distance between any two people and a good smile (a close relative to laughter) can melt many a concrete professional heart. Aside from endearing you to the interviewer, showing you are pleasant and breaking the ice, a polite smile will actually make you feel happier and will lift your spirits. Aim to smile as sincerely and as often as is possible during the interview and watch how your mood and temperament lighten up and the interview takes on a more positive light.

Blog Topics: A Key to Successful Blog

articler.com

Some Bloggers simply write about whatever is on their mind, creating an online journal of sorts. Successful bloggers know however that to have a great blog, you cannot always write about what you want to write about. You must also keep the interests of your readers in mind when writing. After all, if you want a successful blog, you have to depend on the readers to show up often. To keep your blog as fresh as possible, consider using these five ways to find winning ideas for your blog topics. Research Smart bloggers know that each day there are popular search terms listed on large search sites. Bloggers can use these search terms to help them get more traffic to their blogs. Each day a blogger can look at these popular search terms and creating posts using them. If the blogger is lucky, they will increase their traffic due to more people looking for that term. By researching the topics that are hot with readers each day, bloggers can create things specifically for the readers. Doing research may take a little time and you might never be writing about what you want to write about, but you will likely have more traffic than ever. Use the News The news is a great place to gather topic information for your blog. News teams research and investigate for hours to gather their topics. By using similar topics, you can skip all of the hard research work and still be a success. Never use their ideas exactly, just take them and use them to develop your own. For instance, if there is a major political issue going on in the news, consider creating a post about what you think about it. You don't have to use the news story, just the topic idea along with your own words. Ask Around If you have been blogging a while you might have began to hit low points where you really have no more topic ideas left. Some writers call this "writer's block" while others just see it as a small hurdle to be surpassed. When you have come to this difficult point, the best thing to do is ask around. Talk to interesting people you know. You can ask them what topics they find most interesting at the time. If you would rather be a little more subtle, simply bounce a few topics off of them to see which ones they respond strongly to. Use the topics that they respond strongly to in order to gather ideas for posts. Follow the Lead of Others When you are looking for great blog topics, consider visiting popular blogs to see what they are talking about. Don't steal their ideas, but use the visit to stir up great ideas of your own. Sometimes when you see others working at their highest potential it can spark new potential in yourself. You can see which topics get the best response for their blog and decide if you could get the same response with a similar topic. Sleep On It Go to sleep each night with a clear head. In the morning, before you even open your eyes, target the first thing on your mind. Write it down immediately so you don't quickly forget. Then use these things to develop interesting blog topics. You would be shocked at how inspiring our first thoughts can be. They are so interesting because they are not clouded with any outside stressors from reality. They are simple thoughts typically that can be used successfully on a blog. These five ways to find winning blog topics are proven to be among the best. Be sure that you pay attention to which topics get the best response on your blog so you will know which ones are most effective. Use all or some of these tips to help you get on your way to better blog topics right away

Ways to Find New Blog Topics

For the past 2 weeks I've been receiving post asking How to come up good topics for their blogs. Well there are so many good topics out there. You just have to determine which idea or what is your interest to begin with.

I have just listed their 10 Ways below briefly:
  1. Determine what is your topic all about: (Cars, real estate, blogging, traveling, online business, planes, animals, sports, entertainment, etc.)
  2. Answer questions from previous blog comments that people have posted.
  3. People love lists - like this article "10 Ways", or my holiday blog post "12 Ways of Christmas", "Top 3 Things", etc...
  4. Review previous smash hit posts, write a new post on the same topic, but from a different perspective.
  5. See what other popular blogs are talking about - it will give you lots of ideas for your own posts.
  6. Read other blogs for inspiration too...
  7. Mix it up...change your format, run a poll, do a give away, etc...
  8. Guest Authors...invite one to post on your blog...take some of the pressure off yourself.
  9. Walk away from the computer, stop trying to think so hard of a topic - get out into the real world and one will probably smack you in the face!
  10. Current events - get up to date on what's going on in the world, keep your eyes and ears open for interesting topics. (remember to choose topics that aren't likely to offend your target audience though)

  11. Keep a running list of topics - as you're out and about, you're apt to come up with something. Have a list with you that you can add to where ever you are.
  12. Ask your friends to keep a list of possible blog topics from her travels around the Internet! We are online so much and read so many blogs, that your friends should be able to help you come up with fresh topics easily!

The 2008 Rakrakan Fest in Dubai

December 5,2008: rakrakan fest in Dubai, night like no other as TFC World Tour’s much awaited Pinoy Rock n’ Roll concert in Dubai was on it’s third electrifying year! It was bigger and better. It was one night full of rock n roll! It was the Rakrakan Fest 2008! Featuring FOUR of the country’s biggest and multi-awarded bands and band members from the 80s, 90s to the present!

It’s our favorite rock act from the 1980s! With their legendary hits such as “Bawat Bata”, “Isang Bangka” and “Salamat”, you sure have missed the band with their front man Jett Pangan when they decided to part their ways some years back. At present, the new and improved The Dawn is set to their second leg of Rakrakan 2008 in the Middle East (their first was this October’s Rakrakan Overload in Doha, Qatar). Joining Jett are drummer JB Leonor and two from the greatest bands of the nineties—lead guitarist Francis Reyes was formerly a member of Afterimage and bassist Buddy Zabala of no other than the Eraserheads. Hear their music once more and you’ll know why we ought to thank them for resurrecting The Dawn.
